Short answer: After the current session ends on October 21, 2026, the next MCCQE1 sitting is January 19 – February 11, 2027. The other 2027 sessions are April 27 – June 1, August 10 – September 7 and October 5 – 26 (MCC: scheduling). Booking opens about 5 months before each session starts, first come, first served, and results come 4 weeks after a session’s last day (5 weeks after the April session). The MCC says dates are subject to change; checked October 16, 2026.
The Medical Council of Canada has published the MCCQE1 exam dates for 2027: four sessions, from January 19 to October 26, all delivered at Prometric test centres. If you are planning a 2027 sitting, this page has every date, the scheduling-open date for each, when results arrive, and how each session lines up with CaRMS. (The exam was renamed from “MCCQE Part I” to “MCCQE” on April 1, 2026; candidates and programs still say MCCQE1, and so do we.)

What is different about MCCQE1 exam dates 2027
Two changes from the 2026 calendar matter. First, 2027 has four separate sessions where 2026 had three — the long August-to-October 2026 session with its three result batches is replaced by a distinct August session (August 10 – September 7) and a distinct October session (October 5 – 26), each with its own result date. Second, as things stand every 2027 sitting is in person: the MCC no longer offers remotely proctored appointments, so you need a seat at a Prometric test centre. Appointments are first come, first served, and the MCC suggests choosing another date or centre if your preferred one has no space, so book early if your city matters to you.
Which 2027 session fits your plan
Applying to CaRMS for the 2028 match? Find the date by which your programs or province need your MCCQE result, then work back from the result dates above: about early October 2027 for the August session and late November 2027 for the October session. The MCC says a specific session date cannot be guaranteed and, if you have a deadline for your result, strongly recommends taking the exam early enough to allow for unforeseeable circumstances (MCC scheduling). If you want a margin for a retake, aim for the April 2027 session: results in early July leave room to sit again later in the year.

Before You Can Book MCCQE1 Exam Dates 2027: Eligibility and Fees
Scheduling is the last step, not the first. You need a physiciansapply.ca account ($150, one-time), a source verification request for your medical degree ($232 per credential) if you trained outside Canada, and an accepted MCCQE application ($1,500). Once the application is accepted you have a twelve-month eligibility window to schedule and write; a $120 extension is available, and withdrawing after acceptance forfeits part of the fee. Rescheduling or cancelling a booked appointment costs $35 plus HST up to 31 days before the date and $75 plus HST inside 30 days; inside 120 hours, or if you do not show, the application fee is forfeited. You may sit the MCCQE a maximum of four times, and after a third attempt you must wait 1 year from the day you receive that result before reapplying (MCC eligibility). The exam is 230 multiple-choice questions in two sections of 115 (MCC: multiple-choice questions), scored on a 300–600 scale with a pass score of 439 (MCC: results).
The remaining 2026 dates, for comparison
The 2026 extended session runs August 19 to October 21 and is scored in three batches: August 19 – September 11, September 12 – 29 and September 30 – October 21. The MCC says each batch’s results will be available 4 weeks after the last exam date in that batch (MCC: results). Batches 1 and 2 came out ahead of that schedule, on October 1 and October 15 rather than about October 9 and October 27 (MCC news: batch 1, batch 2); on the same rule, batch 3 is due by about November 18. A preparation timeline that fits the calendar
Whichever 2027 session you choose, work backwards from it. Four months out, be answering questions daily in tutor mode and building a list of weak topics. Two months out, switch to timed 115-question blocks twice a week and sit one full-length, timed practice exam under exam conditions. Two weeks out, stop adding material and taper. In the MCC’s 2025–26 year 48% of international graduates passed on their first attempt; the candidates on the right side of that number are the ones who booked a date and built the plan around it, not the other way round. The MCC charges $1,500 for the MCCQE application, plus a one-time $150 to set up a physiciansapply.ca account and, if you trained outside Canada, $232 per medical credential for source verification (MCC fees, as of October 16, 2026; the MCC reviews its fees every year). Rescheduling or cancelling with Prometric costs $35 + HST up to 31 days before your appointment and $75 + HST less than 30 days before; you can only do this up to 120 hours before the appointment, and a later cancellation or a no-show forfeits the application fee (MCC scheduling).
Can I still write the MCCQE1 remotely?
No. The MCC says remotely proctored appointments are no longer offered; you must book an in-person appointment at a Prometric test centre (MCC scheduling).
When are the TDM exam dates in 2027?
If your route also needs the Therapeutics Decision-Making (TDM) Examination, its 2027 dates are January 13, June 16 and September 22, with results 5 weeks after the exam date (MCC: TDM scheduling).
